In Memory of Loved Ones

Time sure passed fast and in such a quick blinking of an eye, 2 solid years have passed since the gigantic Tsunami ravaged South East Asia, obliterating hundreds & thousands of lives, properties & land on Boxing Day, December 26th, 2004.

It was on this fateful day that I've lost my cousin & her family off the beach of Phuket, Thailand, only the youngest girl then 5 survived. It sure wasn't a pretty sight to behold from the ravages of the Tsunami and at that time, frantic searches were launched to try and locate all the family members.

It was only after a week plus when good news arrived that the youngest child was found and the tale of heroism of a lady hotel staff whom pulled her to safety after she managed to cling onto a floating cushion and send her to high ground for safety. Whom this heroic staff is, no one knows and it sure was just like An Angel whom appeared and help this niece of mine.

After weeks of searching, chances of finding the remaining family members simply became to slim for us to expect them alive. Procedures were then launched to try and locate them among the dead which were being salvaged after the disaster & stored in temporary morgues awaiting identification by family members..

It was indeed a very long process as we are talking about DNA identification through thousand of bodies. News of the family members being identified one by one came in only months later with everyone answered for in September. A big funeral rites were then arranged to be on their 1st death anniversary somewhere in November according to the chinese lunar calendar.

Now, to me, Boxing Day carries another meaning for me in my life, that other than celebrating the birth of Christ, it also reminds me that life is short and any time we may be chosen to go back home to God as such, we must live our lives to the maximum and fullest so that when we go back home to God, we would have great epic tales of adventures & experiences to share with God.

Back to the Tsunami ravaged lands of Aceh & surrounding countries where rebuilding & reconstruction have commenced since, I am greatly disturbed to see that these countries have yet to be fully back on their feet. In recent reports, I've came to realized that those super-power countries which have pledged millions of financial aids and reconstruction aids have yet to be fulfilled or still fall short of their pledge which I personally feel that it is unacceptable as it have already been two freaking years!!! What are these countries doing? When in time of trouble, all stood up like a band of close knits brothers or brethren, pledging help and assistances but once the disaster is over, life beginning to return, reconstruction began and time passes by but it is still amazing enough to see that all those touching selfless pledging by these countries are not carried out in full given a span of two years.. Many of the Acehnese are still leaving in squatters and temporary shelters built 2 years ago!!. As such, I call out to these big wigs countries to fulfill their pledges and promises and help the people of Aceh and other countries which were ravaged by the Tsunami.

May God Bless You all
and comfort those whom mourn for the loss of their loved ones for they are surely in safe hands basking in the glory of the everlasting Father whom have not failed us.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those whom hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are those whom are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men revile, persecute and say all manners of evil against you falsely, for my sake. [Matthew 5:3-10]
